Mid-Autumn Festival Memories

Today is the day of the mid-autumn festival. It’s the second most important holiday after the Chinese New Year. It falls on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese lunar calendar on a full moon night. During the festivities people celebrate the moon, give thanks for the harvest and eat mooncakes. Man… how I miss all those colourful decorations, the festive celebrations and the fire dragon dance.

Let’s do some sports

Sport is good for you. So, they say… It’s true. Sport is good and done in the right way, it can be very much fun. Injuries can happen, that’s one of the risks while doing sports but hey we are taking risks every day by leaving the house for example. 2021 has been so far one of the most intensive sports years for me. Don’t know why, I probably needed to release some steam 😉

Euro Finale

It’s the Euro Cup Football finale today. Italy against England. Why am I so excited about it? Poland didn’t make it to the final stage, which is not a surprise nor do I play football myself nor do I know much about it. The only thing I know about football is that it’s a game with two goals that is played by 22 players for 90 minutes and in the end the Germans always win… unfortunately not this time. Visit and get visited

I also had a couple of occasions when I was the visiting part. Visit and get visited is actually a balance between give and take. When somebody hosts you make sure to return the favour as best as you can when you are hosting somebody.

Told her that the best way to see the island is to rent a car. She was like aaahhh I’m a bit of a cheapskate to rent a car but think it’s more convenient than wasting time on busses. She had a point.

Tops and flops – places

Before each trip I have some kind of expectations of the place I’m going to visit. I always hope for good food, cool sights and generally a nice sightseeing atmosphere. Sometimes I get positively surprised as some places offer a jaw dropping sightseeing experience than I’ve expected and the food is absolutely awesome. Another time it’s exactly the opposite. I expect a BIG WOW as all the stories I read and documentaries I watched promise heaven on earth but reality turns out to be a bit mehhhh. Did a ranking of places which turned out to be better than expected and places which were a disappointment. Think the disappointment list can arouse some indignation 😉
