Yes, visiting Germany again! Couple of weeks ago I wrote that despite all prejudice Germany is a really cool holiday destination. For me going to Germany is a mix between new adventure and travel back in time as mostly I go to Germany to visit my family in Trier. It’s not different this time. Long weekend with my amazing aunt and fabulous cousins.

The people you meet on the road
Today is a very special day. One of my closest friends from Hong Kong is celebrating his birthday. I would give everything to be there and take him for a steak dinner and drinks. Unfortunately, that is not possible this year. However, Bro, you know I think of you and send you warm hugs from the other side of the world! Therefore, today some stories about people I’ve met on my travels.

When I was 10 years old, I thought that people in the age of 30+ are serious, well established and do grown up stuff like going to work or driving a car. Man, little did I know about people in their 30ties by that time. Now I’m 35 myself and sometimes I feel like 7 or 16. Although I do the grown-up stuff like going to work or driving a car, I put all the effort in to keep my inner child alive. Otherwise, life would be so boring.

Last Friday was a big day for me. For the first time I was talking in public about diving. So far, my diving stories were told only in bars, family gatherings and house parties. It was a bit scary as I was afraid that I’ll be talking to an empty room. It wasn’t that case, the audience was there, and they even asked questions 😀

Today is an important day as I’m organising a diving slideshow and it has been some time since I last spoke in public… all be fine! For those of you who are not in Kraków and are not able to make it, I will post a summary with videos coming Sunday. In the meantime I will share some cool public transportation stories. Yes, public transport can also be exciting 😀

Last time I wrote about places to god for food and drink in Krakow and today I’ll share some memories regarding the best and worst food I’ve ever had on my travels. There will be a mouth-watering, juicy and tender steak, amazing seafood but also some smelly food which in Asia is a delicacy but not that hugely appreciated by western taste buds, plus a four-time disappointment.

I live to eat. Apart from travel and scuba diving, food is my greatest passion. When I’m not on the road I like to go back with my memories to certain places and the best way to do it is through food. Given the gastronomy scene evolved in Kraków in recent years I would like to take you on a journey today through some of Kraków’s exceptional restaurants and bars.

One of the incredible experiences you can get out of travel is meeting new people, sometimes even in weird circumstances. This is how I met Alice and Francesco. In Sintra while getting a ride from Pena Palace to downtown Sintra. We chatted a bit, exchanged phone numbers and they visited me in Krakow last weekend. I also had a couple of occasions when I was the visiting part. Visit and get visited is actually a balance between give and take. When somebody hosts you make sure to return the favour as best as you can when you are hosting somebody.

Those are two different states. Being alone doesn’t mean that you are lonely and opposite you can feel lonely in a crowd of people. Alone and lonely are creatures which come out unexpectedly from the deepest, darkest corners of our mind when we least expect them. Alone is quite easy to get used to, lonely is trickier. Regardless, there are methods to subjugate them.

Lately my friend AP asked me for destination tips for solo travellers, condition passport free travel. I recommended Sicily as there is stuff to see, nice beaches, good food and fabulous wine. Told her that the best way to see the island is to rent a car. She was like aaahhh I’m a bit of a cheapskate to rent a car but think it’s more convenient than wasting time on busses. She had a point.
