Pride Parade

As every year today I’m going to the Pride Parade to support my gay friends and the LGBT community. Sadly, I have to say that Poland is not a tolerant country towards gays, lesbians, bisexual or transgender people. Every time I hear or read on the news that LGBTs are not human, that being gay is an illness and those people should be locked up makes my incredibly angry. I also wonder what the driver behind such bullshit is… mostly fear.

Top 5 best and worst airports

Airports are like Marmite. You either love it or hate it. Regardless, airports are fascinating places. They are like cities within cities and the way they operate… mind blowing. Not sure if you saw the National Geographic series Ultimate Airport Dubai? All those little details that we as travellers are not aware of. Thought that I’ll share with you my top 5 of the best and worst airports I’ve been to.

The people you meet on the road

Today is a very special day. One of my closest friends from Hong Kong is celebrating his birthday. I would give everything to be there and take him for a steak dinner and drinks. Unfortunately, that is not possible this year. However, Bro, you know I think of you and send you warm hugs from the other side of the world! Therefore, today some stories about people I’ve met on my travels.

Freedom

Do you remember the movie Braveheart? If so, I bet you remember the scene where William Wallace makes the speech before the big battle? He finishes the speech with “you can never take our freedom”. I’m not going to debate if in the modern world we are truly free or not as that is somehow pointless. I’ll debate the freedom that we are giving up sometimes, and the ones who mostly give it up are women.

Look after your inner child

When I was 10 years old, I thought that people in the age of 30+ are serious, well established and do grown up stuff like going to work or driving a car. Man, little did I know about people in their 30ties by that time. Now I’m 35 myself and sometimes I feel like 7 or 16. Although I do the grown-up stuff like going to work or driving a car, I put all the effort in to keep my inner child alive. Otherwise, life would be so boring.

A happily ever after

Last week my friend broke up with her boyfriend after six years of being together. There were marriage and happily ever after plans but didn’t work out. Now my friend constantly hears: oh you wasted six years of your life and now you have to start from scratch. If you ask me, it is better to split after six years than after sixteen or sixty and find happiness somewhere else rather than suffer in an unhappy relationship. Sooo… what does a happily ever after look like?

Can share with you some tips and tricks on how to manage time 😉

Visit and get visited

One of the incredible experiences you can get out of travel is meeting new people, sometimes even in weird circumstances. This is how I met Alice and Francesco. In Sintra while getting a ride from Pena Palace to downtown Sintra. We chatted a bit, exchanged phone numbers and they visited me in Krakow last weekend. I also had a couple of occasions when I was the visiting part. Visit and get visited is actually a balance between give and take. When somebody hosts you make sure to return the favour as best as you can when you are hosting somebody.
