Lately my friend AP asked me for destination tips for solo travellers, condition passport free travel. I recommended Sicily as there is stuff to see, nice beaches, good food and fabulous wine. Told her that the best way to see the island is to rent a car. She was like aaahhh I’m a bit of a cheapskate to rent a car but think it’s more convenient than wasting time on busses. She had a point.

Unconditional love…
… for a city. Not sure if you have it as well but when I travel somewhere I either like to fall in love with the place or not. Last time I mentioned that New York and I will never have a thing as there is no chemistry. So you can even call it a one night stand 😛 However there are three places which I’m completely in love with.

Before each trip I have some kind of expectations of the place I’m going to visit. I always hope for good food, cool sights and generally a nice sightseeing atmosphere. Sometimes I get positively surprised as some places offer a jaw dropping sightseeing experience than I’ve expected and the food is absolutely awesome. Another time it’s exactly the opposite. I expect a BIG WOW as all the stories I read and documentaries I watched promise heaven on earth but reality turns out to be a bit mehhhh. Did a ranking of places which turned out to be better than expected and places which were a disappointment. Think the disappointment list can arouse some indignation 😉

They go to work to earn money they can spend on travel – is the simple answer. Most of the time they spend fantasising about countries they want to visit or activities they want to do during travel, hence they are more motivated to go to office and do a good job. At least I am 😀 Every time I come back from an adventure I keep my mind occupied with travel plans, nice memories from the last trip, my hobbies and also exploring the city I live in. Thing is I also really like my everyday job so going to work is not an inconvenience, it’s spending quality time developing new skills working with fabulous people and to be honest enjoying what I do. Soooo the time between one trip and another is a different type of adventure.

Last time I raved how fantastic the diving experience is and what my dive drives are. However, you need to start somewhere, which is the most difficult bit if you don’t know where. First time I heard about diving was from my bestie PRS, she is always an inspiration 🙂
We were in the Philippines and she wanted to do a diving certification there. I went with her to one of the dive shops and man, I have to say the diving instructor was a mix between Bear Grylls and Steve Irwin. Anyway, firstly diving didn’t appeal to me until Kleo, or as I like to call him – my Dive Guru showed me some cool underwater pictures. He also told me which reliable dive shop to choose if I wanted to get certified. Two days after the meeting with Kleo, I called him saying – guess what? I’m starting my diving course in three weeks 🙂

To pee in my wetsuit is the sarcastic answer. The long answer is a bit more complex. It means in this and the next two posts you will get to know why I’m crazy about diving, how to get started with diving, some funny stories related to diving and most of all what is it with the whole peeing in the wetsuit thing.
Somehow, every time, when I say that I do scuba diving, people think it’s dangerous and that it is some kind of extreme sport that is associated with high risk. Somehow it is when you are not careful, ignore basic safety rules and play all yippee ki yay cowboy. However diving is not only about jumping into the water and watching fish, there are rules on how to watch marine life. When you do it for some time you figure out it’s more like an escape from reality and very much eye opening when it comes to environment matters like ocean pollution, shark finning or global warming.

This post will be more about pictures than about text as it’s the fourth day on the dive boat and I already saw mantas, sharks, stingrays, turtles, big morrey eels, lobsters etc. and today we had a beach BBQ. However, I bet you are asking yourselves, how does a normal day on a dive safari look like?
Well, it’s pretty simple. You wake up and you dive. After the first dive you have breakfast, then you sleep. Second dive, you have lunch and you sleep. Third dive, then you have dinner and… nope, you sleep later. First you look at the pictures you took, chat to your fellow divers, have a beer and then you sleep. Next day, repet 😀

Maldives were on the bucket list for a long time, especially a dive safari to see all the sharks, mantas, turtles etc. Drawback was that trips to the Maldives were always expensive and I’ve balanced on the edge of reason thinking, am I really that crazy to pay shit lots of money for a one week diving trip… logic always took over here. Finally somewhere mid April this year, out of pure curiosity I went on the page liveaboard.com to see how the Maldives dive safari situation looks like. And there it was! a 50% reduction on one of trips. My reaction was immediate, book it, do it now, what are you waiting for, do it. So I did and now, while writing this post I’m in Male, the capital of Maldives, waiting for my dive adventure to start tomorrow.

Today we are celebrating International Children’s Day, so as cheesy as it may sound, who do you wanna be when you grow up? A doctor? A firefighter? Or Darth Vader maybe? The beauty of a children’s mind is that it’s not contaminated with the whole grown up prejudice and doubt, meaning kids can come up with all sorts of wild ideas. Hence I really like to preserve the kid particle that I still have in my mind. BUT to answer the main question!
When I was a child, I wanted to be the lady that sells ice cream, at least I would make people happy… come on ice cream makes everybody happy 😀 Then I wanted to be a ballerina. I was somehow fascinated by all the tutus and the elegance. Finally, there it was the biggest idea of them all. Bruce Lee? Yeah, I will be like Bruce Lee.
